Results by 31.03.2025

The open call asks authors to reflect on the cultural aspects of microtonal music as well as its musical sides.

Some questions we have been thinking about: What is microtonal music, how and why do we make it? What does it mean to make microtonal music rather than other types of music? Why is it needed? What’s it for? What resources are necessary for microtonal music? How can institutions build those resources and what can people do to make a more diverse-sounding world possible? What are the historical as well as contemporary aspects of microtonal music? What are diverse cultural approaches to microtonal music? How does the experience of microtonal music differ from other types of music? How and which technologies are related to microtonality?

Submissions can be academic or poetic, structured or freeform, pedagogical, decolonial, theoretical, and/or ontological.

Written content may include: texts, abstracts, articles, and other kinds of writings.
